SCHOOL YEAR PROGRAM

The California Mini-Corps school year participants are assigned to provide tutorial services to migratory students throughout the state. The Mini-Corps participant works as a tutor. The Mini-Corps tutors work from July 1-June 30th (when work is available). Hours may vary depending on the tutor"s schedule and program needs.  The tutor must be pursuing a career in education and must have a class schedule that is flexible to allow them to work the required hours.
 
The types of direct services migratory students receive in the school year program from Mini-Corps tutors are:
 
  • Individual tutoring, small and/or large group instruction
  • Extended day tutoring
  • Career awareness/Post- Secondary information
  • Mentoring and positive bilingual role models
  • Parent-Teacher conferences (Mini-Corps participants translate for parents)
  • Self-advocacy
  • Tutoring, assessment & progress monitoring
  • Leadership skills building activities
  • Home school connections with teacher's approval
  • Saturday Schools – Tutorial Instruction
