Daniel Alexander, President

Daniel Alexander is a Trustee to Area 4 (Chico), living in Chico since 1996 following graduating from California State University, Sacramento, with a bachelor's degree in Government. In 1996, he also married his wife Karrie, who started her teaching career that same year. Daniel obtained his Juris Doctorate (JD) degree from Cal Northern School of Law in 2000, and that was followed by post-graduate education through Pepperdine University School of Law Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution. For the past 20-plus years, he has practiced Estate Planning and Business law in his main Chico office and has satellite offices in Roseville and Sacramento. He is also a past lecturer in the Political Science Department at California State University, Chico. Over the years, he has and continues to participate on advisory boards and local boards as a volunteer. Daniel lives in Chico with his wife Karrie, and they have two children, Lexie and Lane, both graduates of Chico schools. Term Expires: 2028

Emily Holtom, Vice President

At-Large Trustee, Area 3 (Paradise) | Term: 2022 - 2026 Emily Holtom has served as the At-Large Trustee for Area 3 (Paradise) since 2022, bringing a passion for education, community advocacy, and student success. As a dedicated leader, she is committed to fostering equitable learning opportunities and supporting educators, students, and families throughout the county. With a focus on collaboration and forward-thinking initiatives, Emily works alongside fellow board members and BCOE leadership to enhance educational programs and resources. She is dedicated to ensuring that all students have access to the tools and support they need to thrive academically and personally. Emily looks forward to continuing her service on the Board of Education and strengthening the district’s impact in Paradise and beyond. Term expires: 2026

Evan Tuchinsky

Evan Tuchinsky joined the BCOE Board of Trustees in December 2024, serving Trustee Area 1 (Chico). He also serves on the governing board of the Vina Groundwater Sustainability Agency representing domestic well users; he's been the board's chair since 2021. His previous public service includes vice president of the Inspire School of Arts and Sciences board, City of Chico Planning Commissioner, City of Chico Architectural Review and Historic Preservation Board alternate member and Paradise Unified School District Superintendent's Advisory Board member. A member of Chico Noon Rotary, Evan is Youth Services Chair for both his club and District 5160. Evan works as Weekend Editor for the Chico Enterprise-Record. He and his wife, Dr. Amy Dolinar Tuchinsky, have hosted four exchange students and have three nieces, one nephew and three fur babies. Term Expires: 2028
