Daniel Alexander, Vice President

Daniel Alexander is a Trustee to Area 1 (Chico), living in Chico since 1996 following graduating from California State University, Sacramento, with a bachelor's degree in Government. In 1996, he also married his wife Karrie, who started her teaching career that same year. Daniel obtained his Juris Doctorate (JD) degree from Cal Northern School of Law in 2000, and that was followed by post-graduate education through Pepperdine University School of Law Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution. For the past 20-plus years, he has practiced Estate Planning and Business law in his main Chico office and has satellite offices in Roseville and Sacramento. He is also a past lecturer in the Political Science Department at California State University, Chico. Over the years, he has and continues to participate on advisory boards and local boards as a volunteer. Daniel lives in Chico with his wife Karrie, and they have two children, Lexie and Lane, both graduates of Chico schools. Term Expires: 2024

Karin Matray

Karin serves as a BCOE Board Trustee for Area 1 (Chico). Karin holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Art History and Teaching from Lake Forest College and a Master’s of Education degree in Leadership from the University of Virginia. She has been an educator for over forty years in Virginia, West Virginia, New Mexico and California. Since moving to Chico in 2003, Karin has worked in Tehama County as Assistant Superintendent for Red Bluff Union Elementary School District and, most recently, as Associate Superintendent of the Tehama County Department of Education. Karin is married to James Matray, professor of history at California State University-Chico. Together, they have two children, Benjamin of Chico and Amanda of Albuquerque. Term expires: 2024
