What is the Youth Activism Fellowship Program?

The Truth Initiative’s Youth Activism Fellowship (YAF) is a 12-month program designed for 18 – 24 year olds who want to change culture and help end the tobacco epidemic. With a focus on four primary areas – Public Health Impact, Community Engagement, Communications and Policy & Advocacy, Fellows receive specialty training in tobacco-related health equity, community surveillance, effective communication and youth engagement strategies for executing tobacco-related field operations in underserved communities across the country.

The Truth Initiative, previously the American Legacy Foundation, was established as part of the 1998 Master Settlement Agreement between major U.S. tobacco companies and 46 U.S. states, the District of Columbia and five territories. It is America’s largest non-profit public health organization dedicated to making tobacco use a thing of the past.
